A trip away with friends ..

We were 20 years old so it seemed about right to book a trip overseas. I went back to Bali with my (then) boyfriend and a few friends. It’s such an easy place to go overseas from Australia.

Again, the smell and humidity hit me as soon as I stepped out of the airport – I knew I was back.

We stayed at The Losari Hotel & Villas in Kuta which is off of Jl. Padma. The Losari was a good distance away from the hustle and bustle but still walking distance as it was on the border of the, much quieter, Legian. This hotel suited us just fine, it had a small pool, which we didn’t really spend much time in as we were out at the beaches most of the time, and a yummy breakfast.

As is standard in Bali, we hired scooters. Doing this opened up a whole range of possibilities and each day we zoomed around from surf beach to surf beach. Each scooter carried two of us with the surfboards strapped to the side of the scooter.

We had some more friends join us a few days later and, with the scooters armed with surf boards, rode down to South Kuta to the various surf beaches.

After about ten days in Kuta and a few big nights with our friends, the boy and I jumped on a plane to Lombok, an island paradise. It was beautiful. As accommodation is fairly cheap in Bali, we went fancy and stayed at the 5-star Sheraton Senggigi Beach Resort. Now this place had some serious pools. We chilled out here, swimming and lying in the sun before strolling along the beach right at our doorstep.

We organised a day trip to the Gili Islands and caught a boat to Gili Meno Island where we had a delicious seafood lunch (freshly caught that day) and even watched a young boy run and climb up a coconut tree to pick us a fresh coconut to drink and then even eat afterwards. Talk about fresh!! The Gili Meno Island was not big at all and we spent our time here exploring around and snorkelling with the hundreds and hundreds of colourful fish beneath the clear water’s surface.

What a way to spend our last few days in Bali.!
